OUR PALM GARDEN

Visit the Palmco Display Garden in Kerikeri, Garden of National Significance.

Open to the public every day, the Palmco Garden at our Head Office in Kerikeri is a magnificent display of the company's products, including mature field grown palms, garden design and of course landscape construction. Featuring the key elements of the Supreme and Gold award winning garden at the Ellerslie flower show, the garden was awarded the coveted Garden of National Significance by the NZ Horticultural Society status in early 2009.

The entrance to the main garden is through a large tropical house, with palms and plants that thrive in warm and humid conditions. With a water feature and intriguing plantings you are led through the tropical garden and outside into a grove of immaculately prepared Trachycarpus fortunei (Chinese Windmill) palms. The palms trunks are stripped of their natural coarse husk and fibre which results in this palm variety taking on a totally different identity. This process provides this hardy and versatile species with another look that makes it a great feature palm. Visually stunning, these palms grow directly out of the fine gravel pathway to the main garden and give the first taste of what the Palmco Garden has to offer visitors - innovation, creativity and exquisite design features that inspire.

The Palmco Garden is a very successful blend of both exotic and native palm species and NZ native under plantings. We have created a "Native Jungle" theme that illustrates how successfully exotic palms species can be grown in NZ and compliment our own native plants. Nestled amongst mature Bangalow and King palms. The highly prized native Nikau palm features prominently in the entrance to the main garden. These mature examples have a rich green foliage and seed that attracts the local Wood Pigeons.

Featuring a mature example of all of the species that Palmco grows on the 65 acre Kerikeri nursery, the garden is a magnificent example of what can be achieved at your place or any landscape project. All of the palms and plants are available from the Palmco retail store onsite and also from Palmco Auckland at 88B Merton Rd, Glen Innes.

The Palmco Garden has a number secluded spots found by following the numerous little pathways throughout the garden. These include a dry riverbed that incorporates a dock and a fire pit. There are also extensive lawns around that look over the pond that are ideal for events and picnics. Please Note: The Palmco Garden is undergoing significant additions and renovations this spring for the Kerikeri Rotary Club Garden Safari on the 30th and 31st of October - so please call 09 407 9293 to check if the garden is open to view before you visit prior to this date.

Featuring all of the palms and products we specialise in, our Kerikeri shop has an easy flow layout to make it the perfect place to indulge in some retail therapy after a wander through the Palmco garden's.
